Lowering Taxes for the Middle Class

Nassau County and New York have some of the highest taxes in the nation. In fact, Nassau County was rated as having the 5th highest property taxes among all counties in the United States. Dustin thinks it's time we change this. ​Dustin believes in a progressive income tax. He believes people should pay taxes according to their income and ability. He wants every citizen to be aware of what their tax dollars go to and wants citizens to be able to see an actual breakdown of what their taxes went to. He opposes tax cuts for the wealthy and supports a stronger tax on Wall Street.

Fixing Our Infrastructure

Dustin knows that New York infrastructure is overused and underfunded. Dustin wants to seek federal money and grants to get our infrastructure up to modern standards. Dustin wants to work to make Long Island Rail Road tickets and Metro-cards cheaper for New Yorkers who relay on these systems' to get to work and school. Dustin supports efforts to speed up the East Side Access Program so Long Islander's who work on the East Side of Manhattan can get to work faster and easier. 

Improving Education

​Dustin knows having educated citizens makes for a better country. He wants to change the approach to education and get rid of many tests students have to take. He believes heavy testing of students doesn't benefit them in the long run. He opposes common core and wants a more personalized program for every student depending on their needs and wants. He wants the arts and music to be increased in schools. He wants schools to be a place students look forward to, not dread. He wants to work to make sure students aren't being unnecessarily overly worked and stressed. ​Dustin supports efforts to make in-state tuition free for New Yorkers. 

Fighting Corruption

New York has become known as a haven for the political corrupt. In fact, Politico has ranked our state as having the most corrupt officials than any other state. We need change and we need it now. Dustin wants to fight for increased independent oversight on our elected officials and make sure the people we elect are fighting for us and not for their pockets. Dustin supports laws that require elected officials to be more transparent and he supports stricter rules on campaign financing. 

Fighting The Opium Crisis Head On

Long Island has been hit hard by the opium crisis. It is taking the lives of many we know and love. Dustin wants to fight this crisis head on. Dustin supports more harsher sentences and penalties for those who are smuggling and distributing opioids. Dustin also supports treatment over jail for the victims of opium addiction. Jail for users does not fix the problem. We need to ensure those suffering from addiction get the help they need to ensure they can live a life free from addiction.
